Depending on the creative project you’re working on music can enhance the process. We’ve all heard that classical music increases productivity and there are studies that prove it. If you don’t find it distracting put on some classical music or your own creativity playlist next time you’re creating or working. Even the mundane can feel a bit more creative with music in the background.
If I’m working on a writing project that takes place in a certain time period or evokes a certain mood, I will play music that relates to that and listen to it on my down time. It helps keep me in the mind frame. When it comes to doing the actual writing, I prefer it to be quiet and sometimes will listen to light classical music. But I love doing a little music research and listening to my playlist to enhance the experience of the project.
